What and why

“Music.app” is a simple music player for Vkontakte social network.

In 2016 Apple removed the official Vkontakte application from App Store due to some copyright violations related to music.

Later, Apple forced the social network to disable the music listening functionality to restore the official iOS application in App Store.
Since I was using Vkontakte as my primary source of music and the music was still available on the network, I decided to create a simple application for iOS that would allow me to continue to listen to the music from the social network.

How

Use Objective-C and Vkontakte iOS SDK to create an application.

Problems

Before starting the development of the application, I knew nothing about Objective-C or mobile application development.

Results

• A developer preview of the app, which required an Apple developer account, is available on GitHub.

Notice

• After resolving copyright issues, Vkontakte restored the full functionality of the official iOS application.
• “Music.app” is outdated a long time ago for many reasons.
